Chief Investment Officer, Asia / Representative in Japan

Message from the Representative in Japan

APLJ, the Japanese operating arm of the U.S.-based APL Group, established its Tokyo office in 1997, during the formative years of real estate securitization in Japan. Since then, we have steadily built our track record with a primary focus on real estate asset management, accumulating extensive experience in the Japanese market.

Because APLJ has invested primarily using the capital of the APL Group rather than operating as a fund, we are free from rigid or inflexible investment policies. With a constant awareness of a world and society that continue to evolve every day, we approach investment and asset management with the philosophy of staying “half a step ahead” of the market.

Unconstrained by fixed investment periods or IRR targets, we excel in forward-looking development investments as well as long-term ownership and asset management. These capabilities have become defining characteristics of APLJ and are now widely recognized as part of our identity.

Since our founding, we have placed the greatest importance on relationships of trust with our partners. The fact that we have been able to consistently pursue creative and distinctive business models is entirely due to the strong trust we have built and the exceptional support we have received from our partners over the years.
Going forward, we will continue to value relationships between people, work to build even stronger and broader trust-based partnerships, and contribute to the development of society through solutions that are uniquely APLJ.
